ABOUT CWA LOCAL 1301

CWA Local 1301 started in 1960 as a group of Yellow Pages Sales Reps bargained their first collective bargaining agreement with New England Telephone Co. They were represented by Communications Workers Of America (CWA) AFL/CIO. The bargaining represented Yellow Pages sales representatives in all New England states (except Connecticut). With over 50 years of representing Yellow Pages Sales Representatives, CWA Local 1301 has had collective bargaining agreements with New England Telephone Co, NYNEX, Bell Atlantic, Verizon Yellow Pages, Idearc and Super Media.
 
Our past presidents include: George Rodenbush, Jim Edgeworth, Al Gifford, Phil Murphy, Jack Doherty, Tom Miller,and George Alcott III.

CWA Local 1301 is very involved on the political and civic scene with relationships with United States Congressmen Steve Lynch and William Delahunt. CWA Local 1301 also has a great relationship with current Secretary Of State, Massachusetts, William Galvin. We have also been involved in fundraising through COPE for the former Senator Edward Kennedy and current Senator, John Kerry.

CWA Local 1301 has won numerous District One and CWA International Awards including raising money for COPE (Committee On Political Education), Union Builders Award, and the Joe Beirne Award among other distinctions. Our charities of choice include the Pediatric Aids Foundation and The Cancer Walk (Flagship Local) for the UMASS Medical Center in Worcester Massachusetts.

CWA Local 1301 has had a long term relationship with the Massachusetts AFL/CIO including George Alcott III serving as Vice President.
