ATTN:Brothers and Sisters 

We wanted to take this time to wish all of our members a happy holiday season and to enjoy some much deserved time off with your families, your support helps to give the word union meaning.

In this time of year we need to focus on the families and children of our members and make sure that they are able to have a happy holiday season, recently we have had one of our members, a union Executive Member Terminated for conducting union meetings on company time, while we don't advocate union business on company time we discussed the issue with the company and came to an agreement which was signed by Labor Relations agreeing to a 1 week suspension for the employee in place of termination, the company then ignored this document and terminated the employee anyways, this is an issue that we will now have to take to arbitration to get the employee his job back, in the meantime this employee stands without pay or benefits from the company during the holiday season. 

Another one of our Brothers in Portland ME.  Dewey Kopenga as well as one of our sisters from local 1302 Denise Melendez recently experienced a devastating situation, a fire completely destroyed their apartment leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs, Denise has 2 little girls ages 6 & 7 whose Christmas presents have been completely destroyed as well.

BROTHERS AND SISTERS we need you help !!!

We have always supported our members to the fullest extent through bargaining, grievances, arbitrations and day to day activities, we need your help to support your own brothers and sisters, we are asking that each member donate anything they can to help our members in need right now, checks can be made payable to "CWA LOCAL 1301 DEFENSE FUND", please help our members in their time of need as they in turn will always be there to help you, we need to stick together as a union and support each other, please reach out to your local Steward or Area rep and donate what you can so that our members and their children don't have to suffer at a time of year when they should be able to be happy.
